Origins of everything: things, time, humans, relations, headship of man

Genesis 1 indicates that God created and He alone as composed in one set, the Trinity. His hand is creative every day for six days in a row. Every day is preceded with an evening before the morning, the night-part of a 24 hour period before the light-part of a 24 hour period. He completed His creation at the end of six days. By sundown on the sixth day, the creation was completed. The six days are not randomly selected. Biblically they cannot fall on any day for the first day since Jesus was resurrected on Sunday morning which the New Testament calls the “First day of the Week”. Calendars which try to change the order of the days are biblically wrong. God was busy for six days doing His business of creation but when the schedule came for the seventh day, He rested. No work was done. No business. God is not tired and He does not need rest. He did it to sanctify and bless the seventh day as example for humans to do likewise.

When Genesis 2 rehearse the creation event, it focused on the origin of the Sabbath but it also want to outline the origin of women and the headship of man in the family. The fifth day saw the creation of the birds. The sixth day saw the creation of the animals (A in the diagram below). The process on Friday was followed with the creation of man (B). This was followed later during Friday with the bringing of the animals to Adam to name them or create a dictionary (C). Finally, on Friday was the special operation of God creating a woman (D).

Some people want to say that the headship theology of the Bible is actually skew and evil. They want to reject it and join Women Liberation movements. This is not correct. The headship theology was before the Fall since God did not create man and woman immediately but First Man and then Woman. He also created man from clay but a woman from the rib of man. The subordination did not mean that they cannot function equally, but it did mean that responsibility laid at the door of man first and then the woman. There are many more reasons why man was created first. Bullying woman was not part of the plan of God. Subordinating woman to dehumanizing functions and status in society was also not His plan. She had just as much a role to play in society as he. She would not do anything without consulting him and he would not do anything without consulting or informing her but in the case of ambiguity, his decision may finally carry the day. That decision excludes senselessness, irrationality, weird ideas, derogatory plans, degrading moves, discrimination of gender or people. Reducing females freedom of speech and movement and will to “jail” conditions and settings is not the plan of God either. Humans are to bring their full potential within their genders. There are things men cannot do and there are things that women cannot do. There are things that can only be done in combination.

Dear God

Accept us a humans wishing to fulfill your original plan with us. In Jesus name, Amen.
