Hope Fresh and Green

Genesis 8:10-12
10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark.
11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.
12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him.

다시 한 주일을 기다렸습니다. 그러나 이미 비가 그쳤기 때문에 물이 줄어들리라는 것을 알고 있었죠. 두 번째 비둘기를 내보내니 새 감람나무 잎사귀를 부리로 물고 돌아왔습니다. 지금 우리가 보고 있는 모든 나무들은 노아의 홍수를 통과하여 생존한 것들이군요. 노아 가족들의 마음을 가득 채운 희망은 새 감람나무 잎사귀처럼 푸르고 신선했습니다. 저도 창밖으로 우리 마당에 서있는 봄 나무들의 새로 나온 잎사귀를 바라보며 글을 씁니다. 오늘도 영원한 소망으로 시작합니다!

They waited one more week. They knew the water would recede, for the rain already stopped. When Noah sent the dove the second time, it came back with the fresh olive leaf in its beak. We realize all the trees we see now are the ones survived through the Flood. The hope that filled the hearts of Noah's family must be as green and fresh as the new olive leaf! I am writing, looking at newly budded leaves of the spring trees in our yard through the window. Wow, we start this day with eternal hope!
