Genesis 9:26-29 KJV

26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Question 1: God loves everybody. Then why is God called the God of Shem?

a. Because Shem honored Noah

b. Because Noah favored Shem

c. Shem became the ancestor of God’s people

d. The Messiah would come through Shem’s line

Question 2: Why is it “LORD” in capital letters rather than “Lord”?

a. The translator just wanted to do it that way

b. Instead of writing the name of God Yahweh(Jehovah), the LORD in capital letters is used to express the fear of the Lord.

27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Question 1: Japheth was to be enlarged but he would dwell in the tent of Shem. Then who was more enlarged?

Question 2: Canaan is Ham’s son. Noah said Canaan should be the servant of Shem and also of Japheth. Is it not unfair to Ham’s descendants?

a. Since Ham did wrong to him, Noah wanted not only Ham but his descendants also be punished.
