JESUS IS THE LIGHTHOUSE

<예수님은 등대>

There’s a lighthouse on the hillside

That overlooks life’s sea

When I’m tossed it sends out a light

That I might see

And the light that shines in darkness now

Will safely lead us o’er

If it wasn’t for the lighthouse

My ship would be no more

lighthouse: 등대

hillside: 언덕

overlook: 내려다보다

life: 인생, 생명

toss: 던지다, 흔들다

shine: 비추다

safely: 안전하게

lead: 인도하다

if ... not ... : ~이 아니라면

ship:

(SPOKEN)

It seems that every one about us says,

“Tear that old lighthouse down.

The big ships just don’t pass this way anymore,

so there’s no use in standin’ round.”

Then my mind goes back to that one dark, stormy night,

when just in time I saw the light.

Yes, it was the light from that old lighthouse,

that stands up there on the hill.

seem: ~인 것으로 보이다, ~인 것 같다

tear down: 헐다, 부수다

pass: 지나가다

use: 소용

stormy: 폭풍치는

in time: 때를 맞춰, 제 때에

And I thank God for the lighthouse

I owe my life to Him

Jesus is the lighthouse

And from the rocks of sin

He has shown a light around me

That I might clearly see

If it wasn’t for the lighthouse

Tell me where would this ship be

owe: 빚지고 있다

rock: 바위

sin:

clearly: 분명히, 뚜렷하게

if ... not... : ~이 아니라면

I thank God for the lighthouse

I owe my life to Him

Jesus is the lighthouse

And from the rocks of sin

He has shown a light around me

That I might clearly see

If it wasn’t for the lighthouse

Tell me where would this ship be
