Daniel 8 for Advanced readers

“Advanced” does not mean to be necessarily a scholar. All but. It means to be a lifelong learner of historicism applications in the interpretation of biblical prophecies. A long-time Adventist is advanced on prophecy irrespective of worldly education. The Spirit and the Word has educated the reader to understand what is at stake and what is meant.

8:8 to 8:9 The grammatical issue

Preterists and all other denominations made the oversight error to miss the analysis of the wrong grammar between verses 8 and 9 of Daniel 8. The phrase “out of one of them” especially asking: what “them?” was misallocated to the horns in verse 8 but not to the [winds of] heavens. There are four horns in verse 8 and four [winds of] heavens in the same. Which is it? Instead of reading the translations, they should have gone to the original Hebrew since the issue is this: horns and winds are feminine but heavens are masculine. Now here is the analytical correctness that supplies the undoubted clear answer which of the two Daniel meant? The word “them” in Hebrew comes in two forms: feminine and masculine. In both the forms are different. Which one is used in Daniel 8:9 with the “them”? Masculine. Thus the reference is to the [winds of] heavens and not to the horns in verse 8. That is why Antiochus Epiphanes is cancelled without further ado and that is why Rome followed by the Holy Roman Empire of the Catholic dominion between 538-1798 = 1260 years comes into the picture for vv. 10-12 and ff.

8:11

Consider Daniel 8:11. The actions of the Little Horn is described in Daniel 8:10 and 12 undoubtedly. Why? Because the “horn” noun in Hebrew is a feminine, the verbs in these two verses are all feminine in form. But, and that is important: the forms of the verbs in verse 11 are all masculine! It is no longer the horn meant here. Why did Daniel deviate from the course here? One commentator of the Catholic Church said that Daniel’s mind fluctuated here. He is correct about that. But to what or whom? If it is not the Roman Catholic Church here in verse 11, who is also a female and will use feminine verbs not with any significant meaning though since that is not a requirement that the fulfillment need also be female. But, using the masculine in verse 11 meant that Daniel saw someone else: Isaiah 14:12-14 provides the answer. Also Ezechiel 28:17. In fact, the same verbs in masculine is used for Lucifer and his fall! Daniel saw that the innate force of the Catholic Church as Little Horn is Lucifer and his actions in the Rebellion in Heaven actions. Catholic (verse 10), Lucifer (verse 11) back to Catholic in verse 12. Little Horn (verse 10), Lucifer (verse 11) back to Little Horn in verse 12.

2300 years and the cleansing or justification

Nitzdaq is used for cleansing and justification. Leviticus 16 and other verses of the Tabernacle could be involved here since the setting is the temple. The metaphors resemble the Day of Atonement Theology of the Sanctuary services and its typological fulfillment in Christ explained also in the Book of Hebrews. Paul never crossed Moses and never tried to nullify Moses. He was a keen reader of Moses as one can see him explicitly mentioning in the Book of Romans.

After the issue is open for cleansing or justification or fusion of both, here is the other question: Since the passive form of the Hebrew verb is involved in nitzdaq “shall be cleansed”, does that mean: a) the cleansing is done in one action by the arriving Christ as High Priest function in the Second Veil of the Heavenly Sanctuary; b) the cleansing or justification in the Heavenly Sanctuary is going to happen in a court scene of the Ancient of Days of Daniel 7 opening the Books of the faithful living et al to see if they have the stigma removal action completed and their Book of Life entry is secured, thus the process starts and is ongoing; c) the cleansing or justification was done all the time from Adam to 1844 and now entering into the Most Holy or Second Veil as Highpriest secured the cleansing instantly without any further process, but just qualifies Christ to be the worthy Advocate in the Court Scene of the Heavenly Sanctuary on behalf of all faithful checking their books one by one and securing their entry in the Book of Life. In this scenario the cleansing or justification process comes to an end in 1844, not starting. There is a transition to another process of a court scene in the same zone.

Which one is involved here needs some more thinking and more thinking than just my own. What if it is all three a-c without exception?

Daniel fell asleep in church

While Gabriel started to tell him the meaning of the vision, Daniel fell asleep and had to be woken-up by the preaching pastor! How many of us do the same? Very important meanings are clarified to us and we are like Peter and the others fast asleep. He just started and Daniel dozed off. See 8:18.

Daniel shocked

Daniel 8:27 explains to us that when Gabriel took Daniel through the prophecy and its meanings going from event to event and he ended in the year 1844 for the Investigative Judgment in Heaven to start, Daniel was very shocked. He thought probably that the Messiah would come quickly and that he may still be alive to see Him? Not so. And that shock made him “fainted” and then he became sick for a few days. It was so depressing to Daniel and such an existential shock that he could not rework it that day. It was so sad to him that he refused to tell others about it properly and even if he tried, they would not understand either. Their own frames of interpretation prevented them from seeing what he was talking about. Their high hopes made them cling to their own interpretations.

Dear God

We need to dig deep in the Word of God because there are more out there for us. Help us to do just that. In Your Holy Name. Amen.
