Despite the online site presenting information of a Belgian Tiara of 1871 that reads CHRISTO VICARIO - IN TERRA - REGUM "the Vicar of Christ reigns on earth" there are still a few dissenting voices denouncing that Vicar of Christ is identical to Vicar of the Son of God.

The following points [1-14] will illustrate how in the legal code, homilies [1], hymns [11-13], Renaissance authors (5-6), earlier authors (7) that VICARIUS CHRISTI was acclaimed for the Supreme ruler of the Catholic church.

What will also be shown is that this title is not only the pope's title but every cleric functioning with the Eucharist. All functionaries of the Catholic church, whether they are bishops, priests, Jesuits, nuns, monks, lay people, are all standing and functioning under the umbrella of the papacy.

These points serve to illustrate that the Catholic Church as we know it before the Deadly Wound of 1798 is still the same Vicarius Filii Dei [666] as it always has been and a name-change to Vicarius Christi does not cancel that equation.

Peterus Aureoli was a strong contender for the VICARIUS CHRISTI doctrine of the Catholic Church.
