Tokyo 13, Mission to the Cities. In 1950, 62 years ago, less than 30% of the world's population of 2.5 billion lived in cities. 2008, four years ago, the world's poplution was split evenly between urban and rural areas. They say, in 2050, 38 years from now, 70% of the world's population will live in cities.

 

Jesus told his disciples to be fishers of men. To fish, fishers must go to sea where fish are. To win souls, disciples must spred the nets in cities. We Adventist churches are located more in rural areas than cities.

 

General Conference set a strategy to reach cities, Mission to the Cities. In 2013, GC plan to have more that 150 evangelistic meetings, from June 7 to June 29, 2013, in New York (NY13).  Main speaker will be Ted Wilson, president of General Conference of Seven-day Adventist. GC is inviting 3 visiting sepeakers from 13 divisions.

 

After NY 13, the Northern Asia-Pacific Division will conduct Mission to the Cities evangelistic meetings in Tokyo, the world's biggest city, September 29 to October 5, 2013.

 

In the first half of 2014, unions and in the latter part of 2014 or in spring time of 2015 all conferences/missions/mission fields will do evangelistic meetings.
