A Fresh Translation of 1 Thessalonians
5:18-23
5:18 In all give thanks: for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus unto you. 5:19 Quench/suppress not the Spirit. 5:20 Pertaining to prophesyings do not
despise 5:21 Investigate all things; hold fast
that which is good. 5:22 From every form of evil abstain. 5:23 And God self of peace may sanctify
you total perfect and total inheriting your spirit and soul and body. Without
blame in the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ may He keep. 5:24 Faithful is He that calls you, who
also will do. Notes: ---It is wrong to write books trying to
show that prophets are also humans basically with the intention to minimize the
prophets impact. ---The purpose is really to show that one
should not always take the prophet serious. ---Also the purpose is to show that sometimes
the prophets are wrong and just guessing. ---If any professor, or lecturer, or
pastor, or Church leader, or any person saying to you that a prophet is just a
human and one should not always follow them exactly as they claim, be alert
because that is what Paul warned against in 1 Thessalonians 5:20. ---We all are admonished to abstain from
evil in any form. Not just some evil. Not just outside evil in the surroundings
but inside evil in us as well. ---Do not say, your desires, passions,
your DNA engineering by your parents, you cannot alter or change so therefore
just do not focus on evil around you and there is nothing you can do with your “programming
to sin” inside you. Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:32 abstain from all evil.
Inside and outside of us. ---Paul wishes that God may sanctify us
total perfect [holo-teleis, holo = wholly and teleis = perfect] and total
inheriting [holo = wholly and kleron = inheriting] our spirits, soul, and body.
---God is doing this before the Second
Coming? Why? Because in order to be blameless at the Second Coming, these
actions needed to be completed already. Does the logic make sense? ---How do you know this is the meaning? God
may keep you blameless at the Second Coming. ---It does not read “make you blameless”
at the Second Coming. It says you are blameless before the Second Coming but
are going to be kept during the Time of Trouble blameless until the arrival of
Christ on the Clouds. ---No, I do not see the words you saying
there. It is the prophetic charts and the logic of the Sanctuary role of Christ
as Mediator and in Revelation the logic that when He finish His meditorial work
in the Sanctuary and comes out to bring the seven last plaques on earth or Time
of Trouble, that saints will need to be “kept blameless” until the arrival of
Jesus on the clouds. Does this now make sense? ---So the doctrine of a spiritual total
perfection before the Second Coming of Christ is embedded here in Pauls’ words
in 5:23. ---Do not claim what He did not give yet.
The optative is used for these words saying “may He [action]” not “He action”.
What is then the element of uncertainty? God? No. Your will. Your choice. 데살로니가전서 5:18-23의
