“마케레레”  국립대학 (유간다)  선교 보고;        2009년 12월5일

“유간다” 에는 “부게마” 삼육 대학이 있읍니다.  이 대학의 신학과는 동,중앙 아프리카의 재림 교회 목회자 배출에 큰 역사적 공헌을 했읍니다. 현재 각 연합회 및 지회의 중추적 역할을 하는 지도자가 다 부게마 대학 신학과 출신 입니다.

이 졸업생 들은 모두 가난한 가정 형편에 그나마 학비가 매우 저렴했던 부게마 신학과 시절의 끈끈한 사랑과 우정으로 유대를 유지하며, 현재 각 국가별로 하나님께 봉사 하며 자부심을 갖이고 있읍니다.

마하 선교는 지난 수년간 부게마 대학에 선교 방문을 갔으며, 주위 부락의 전도에 참여 한 기억을 깆이고 있읍니다.

이제 정식으로 “유간다 연합회”의 초청을 받아, 마하본부 를 연합회로 옮긴 이후, 부근에 있는 “마케레레” 국립 대학 교회에 2009년 10월에 초청을 받은적이 있읍니다. 작은 교회에 빽빽히 메운 공간이 인상적일 뿐 아니라, 재림 대학생들의 선교에 대한 열정과 관심에 많은 감동을 받고, 대학생 선교에 관한 열린 선교회를 약속 했읍니다.

재림 대학생들의 관심있는 눈초리와 “우리가 어떻게 선교를 할수 있는가?” 의 관심에 12월5일 안식일 대 예배후 오후에 모였읍니다.

“마케레레” 대학은 유간다의 긍지를 상징하는 국립 대학으로서, 재림교인은 약 300명 있으며, 학교 교회가 너무 작아 200명만 수용 할수 있고 남어지는 인근 다른 교회에서 봉사 합니다. 국립대학 내의 많은 교파들은 대학 부지에 좋은 교회를 지었으나, 재림교회는 카토릭 큰 성당의 부속 건물 아래층을 얻어 예배 드립니다.

수도 “캄팔라” 에는 10여개 중요한 대학이 있는데, 재림 학생이 약 500여명 됩니다.

마케레레 대학이 중심이 되어 선교를 위한 구체적인 방법과 방향의 자문을 요구 합니다.

우선 학생들에게 “예언의 신” 책자를 권유하여, 학생들로 하여금 전도케 하는 방법을 논의 합니다.

학생들은 지금 흥분되어 있고, 즉시라도 선교 대열에 참여 하고 싶어 합니다.

우선 재림학생회 회장 “이노쓴트”가 1주일에 3일 마하 선교에 봉사 합니다. 마하선교에는 또한1000명 선교사로 인도네시아에 선교사로 갔다가, AIIAS 에서 석사학위 마치고 귀국한 “오팀 렌스” 교수가 1주일 하루 마하선교에 봉사 하며, 학생 선교를 연랃 조율합니다. 우연히 마하선교사 “라엘” 양이 마케레레 대학 출신이며, 모든 재학생들과 아직도 면식이 있읍니다.

아프리카 선교에는 학생과 젊은이 들의 교육과 훈련이 매우 중요하다는 것을 느꼈읍니다. “화이트” 여사의 “교육” 과 “에언의 신” 책자를 집중적으로 교육, 홍보, 훈련하려 합니다. 많은 젊은 층의 선교를 대학생들이, 재학 중 아니면 졸업후에 그 세대를 계속 리드하도록 방향을 제시해 주려 합니다.

이 모든 것이 아프리카에 “선교 센터”가 있으면, 교육, 훈련이 조직적으로 잘 된다고 믿고 있읍니다.

한국에는 얼마나 많은 훌륭한 은퇴 지도자 분 들이 게십니까? 이 분들이 아프리카 젊은이를 위한 교육 훈련에 동참 하시면, 한국에 주신 하나님의 축복이 그들에게도 30년, 50년 후에 일어 납니다. 기도 합니다.

마하 선교

          
“Makerere University” (Uganda) Mission Report;

We are very proud to have “Bugema SDA University” in Uganda.

And its theology department has produced many current leaders of Adventist churches in East, Central Africa. They seem to have a special link each other mainly because Bugema theology offered a very low tuition while most of leaders then were not able to afford a high tuition. Maha remembers several years of mission works in and around Bugema outreach only as far as Uganda is concerned.

Now that Maha Mission was invited by “Uganda Union” in October,2009, and moved its operation headquarter already, Chaplain Orino of the nearby Makerere University has invited Maha to its Adventist Chaple in October.

Not only packed attendance was impressive but Adventist students’ zeal and interest on mission was astounding. In answer to their quest, “Open Talk on Mission” was held on Dec.5, 2009 (Sabbath) afternoon. Their attentive and thirsty eyes of interest on mission and their quest of “How we can do mission as student?” were main concern.

Makerere National University (Uganda) is a symbol of pride for Ugandans. And there are about 300 Adventist students and they worship at the basement floor of Catholic Church service building where a maximum of 200 could be accommodated. Other 100 students they scatter to other local churches for services.

About 500 Adventist students are enrolled in 10 major universities in Kampala, the capitol of Uganda. And Makerere is leading in the quest for student and youth mission, in methodology and directions. Maha is suggesting Ellen G. White’s books of “Education” and selected volumes of “Spirit of Prophecy” series as part of their equipments for evangelism.

Adventist Student Association President “Innocent” is offering 2 evenings a week volunteer work for Maha and “Otim Lence”, a former 1000 missionary to Indonesia, afterwards M.A. at AIIAS, currently teaching in Kampala is volunteering to Maha in coordination for youth education and training. Maha current missionary “Rael” is also a product of Makerere and she maintains still communication with most of Adventist students.

Maha is beginning to realize the importance of youth and students’ education and training especially in Africa. And Mrs. White’s books could be good text books. A huge number of youth in Africa could be trained and educated led by educated young Adventist elites during and after their education simply they are the leaders of their generation in their own communities.

It is our prayer one day soon there will be a “Mission Center” in Africa for this purpose.

A great pool of human resources of retired church leaders in Korea could play role of teaching and training youth in Africa;

– what has happened in Korea will happen in Africa – in 30 to 50 years; a 3000 year Buddhist and 700 year Confucianism country, Now, 30% of population is Christians…

100 years ago Korea lost its sovereignty, 60 years ago it was devastated because of Korean War, one of poorest country in the world,

NOW, Korea is; Number 1 missionary sending country in the world, 11th wealthiest country, 1^st IT country, sixth in nuclear power, 6th in military strength, 6th automobile producing country, one of the 3 highest education country…to name a few.

We pray the same will happen in Africa but we have to start now.

Korea should share God's blessing with Africa in every aspect.

And Mission in Africa is a Wake-Up Call for Korea.
