The Circus Maximus (Latin for greatest or largest circusItalianCirco Massimo) is an ancient Roman chariot-racing stadium and mass entertainment venue located in RomeItaly. Situated in the valley between the Aventine and Palatine Hills, it was the first and largest stadium in ancient Rome and its later Empire. It measured 621 m (2,037 ft) in length and 118 m (387 ft) in width and could accommodate over 150,000 spectators.[1] In its fully developed form, it became the model for circuses throughout the Roman Empire. 키르쿠스 막시무스(Circus Maximus)는 이탈리아 팔라티노 언덕과 아벤티노 언덕 사이에 움푹 파인 기원전 600년경에 목재로 만들어진 거대한 타원형 광장으로 고대 로마 제국에서 가장 큰 전차 경기장이었다. 원래 로마의 에트루리아 왕들이 경기와 오락을 위해 지었으며 BC 50년 경에 율리우스 카이사르가 약 2만 7천명을 수용할 수 있는 규모로 재건했다. 그 후 25만 명까지 수용할 수 있도록 확장되었고 549년을 끝으로 마지막 전차경기가 벌어졌다. 영화 벤허의 대전차 경기 장면을 촬영하기도 하였다. 키르쿠스 막시무스는 라틴어로 '대형 경기장(또는 광장)'을 의미한다. 2006년 월드컵에서 이탈리아가 우승한 날에는 이곳에서 밤새도록 축제가 열리기도 하였다. - 위키 백과

He is also known as St. Stephen of Girimonte, St. Stephen of Kercetulano and St. Stephen of Capitie Africa. You will see painting of how the Christians were persecuted during the periods of Churches of Ephesus and Smyrna by pagans.
