"THE SUN SHINES IN THE HEIGHT OF STORM"

"Worldly wisdom teaches that prayer is not essential. Men of science claim that there can be no real answer to prayer; that this would be a violation of law, a miracle, and that miracles have no existence. The universe, say they, is governed by fixed laws, and God Himself does nothing contrary to these laws. Thus they represent God as bound by His own laws—as if the operation of divine laws could exclude divine freedom. Such teaching is opposed to the testimony of the Scriptures. Were not miracles wrought by Christ and His apostles? The same compassionate Saviour lives today, and He is as willing to listen to the prayer of faith as when He walked visibly among men. The natural cooperates with the supernatural. It is a part of God’s plan to grant us, in answer to the prayer of faith, that which He would not bestow did we not thus ask."—(The Great Controversy, 525.)

A group of missionaries witnessed God's unexplainable miracle this weekend.  Few missionaries who belong to the South West Korean Conference met in Mokpo City last Saturday, July 11-12, 2009.  The host church was under the pastoral administration of Pastor Peter Choi.

Since it was raining cats and dogs, Pastor Choi fetched us at the bus station.  I was invited to be the speaker that night on the gathering and was asked to give inspirational thoughts about evangelism during the short forum.  It's a surprise for me to see everyone who were present there beaming with eagerness and zest to be involved in the plan to do an out-reach program.  No one seemed to worry about the heavy rain.  Even late that evening, somebody has to be fetched at the bus stop for he surely wanted to join.  We prayed hard and asked God to let the rain stop in the morning the day after.

Tracks were prepared for distribution before going to bed.  No one dared to ask  "What ifs?"  We all went to bed with faith that can move a mountain and stop the rain.  We fully trusted the Lord to show us a miracle and answer our prayers.  We woke up so early the next morning and had our morning devotional.  We were baffled with a call because somebody was on her way coming to the place and she was asking if we are going to pursue with the plan because the rain was pouring heavily along the way from her place to Mokpo.  We undoubtedly said, "yes" - the program will go on and she will be fetched at the bus stop.  We prayed again asking God to give us the chance to distribute the tracks - we asked Him to give us sunshine for just a few hours.

At 9:30 Sunday morning, we all left the church.  Heavy clouds up in the sky hid the sun.  While walking we kept praying the heaven won't open up with rain but with sunlight.  Few meters away from the church it drizzled again.  We never thought of going back to the church but to go straight to the park and to areas where we could hand-out the Word of Life.  Only two missionaries who were not feeling well had their umbrellas with them. Our faith was tested, the enemy was trying to ruin our plan but God is greater we believe and we went headlong giving tracks along the way to people we met.

Looking up the sky was getting heavier with dark clouds but we can see the streak of sunlight shining our path.  We kept moving forward until we reached the end of the park lane.  With the sun brightly beaming on us, we waited for more people.  At quarter to eleven, almost lunchtime, we decided to go back home and have lunch.  With seventy-percent tracks left on-hand we thought of giving out all after lunch break.

We all headed back home and the moment the last member of the group stepped in the church's door - heavy rain poured with strong winds blowing.  We experienced goose-bumps knowing how we witnessed God's miracle that morning.  We prayed to thank Him and all the blessings He had showed to us.  We prayed for the people we kept in touch with and prayed for the seeds we sowed that day through written literature.

During lunch time, we discussed what we would do with the rest of the tracks.  It was so dangerous to go outside.  But we were so determined to finish our task.  We prayed again to let the rain stop.  At 1:30 in the afternoon - to the surprise of everyone - the rain stopped again and the group proceeded to finish the handing out of tracks.  Almost 300
 pamphlets and booklets were given away at the strike of 3 o'clock in the afternoon.  When everything was all done - the heaven opened up again and it rained so hard.

Coming back to Seoul we saw rivers overflowing and the traffic had slowed down because of the heavy downpour.  But our hearts couldn't contain the euphoria we feel and the faith strengthened after witnessing God's real miracle.

In Acts of the Apostles, Ellen White states, "Labor in faith and confidence; for the time will never come when I will forsake you. I will be with you always, helping you to perform your duty, guiding, comforting, sanctifying, sustaining you, giving you success in speaking words that shall draw the attention of others to heaven.  {AA 29.1}

God still show miracles to those who are faithful to Him and to those who are willing to do His task.  He will always be there - had He not commanded us like Joshua to "be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest."

God bless us all!
