Peace in the midst of catastrophe

Genesis 7:17-20
17 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth.
18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water.
19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.
20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet.

17 홍수가 땅에 사십 일 동안 계속된지라 물이 많아져 방주가 땅에서 떠올랐고
18 물이 더 많아져 땅에 넘치매 방주가 물 위에 떠 다녔으며
19 물이 땅에 더욱 넘치매 천하의 높은 산이 다 잠겼더니
20 물이 불어서 십오 규빗이나 오르니 산들이 잠긴지라

40일간 비가 내림과 동시에 천재 지변으로 땅에서 물이 솟구쳤습니다. 온 역사에 한 번 뿐이었던 대격변이 일어난 것이었습니다. 그와같은 큰 흔들림 속에서도 방주 안에 있던 노아의 가족들은 하나님을 신뢰하였으며 함께하시는 하나님의 임재로 말미암아 그 마음에 평강이 있었습니다. 우리가 깨어 기도한다면 시험이 오더라도 시험에 빠지지는 않을 것입니다.

It rained for 40 days and also the springs of water under the earth burst due to the great catastrophe which was just once in the history. Noah's family in the ark trusted in God in the midst of this catastrophic disaster, and they rather experienced great peace in their heart because of His presence. If we watch and pray, we will not fall into temptation even in the midst of it.
