I have forwarded Pastor Jung's 1st Congo Mission Report, and had encouraging
responses. Therefore, I am forwarding his 2nd without asking you. Hope and pray

Dear Friends,

It was on March 8th 2009.

We started our journey early in the morning at four o’clock in the morning.

We were heading to the north of Congo.
Elder Yang, Ps Malembe, Vennah, my wife and I borrowed a jeep.

Our destination was Bethel church.

Bethel is a church in Aru, which is in the north-eastern part of DR Congo, and people who live there are from Lukbara tribe.
Aru is 620km away from Butembo towards the north, and it is 250km away from Sudan, it is bordering Uganda.

It was a big adventurous journey for the Congolese who accompanied us because they did not know how we would get to Bethel.
The condition of road was very bad, so it was a very long and dangerous journey.

It would have been more hectic if we did not follow Elder Yang’s instructions.

At daybreak when we arrived at Beni, we had a puncture on one of the tires.

This was enough to remind us that the journey a head was not going to be easy.

We ate breakfast at Pastor Kisunze house.

Pastor Kisunze is the younger brother of NKF president.

In that place, we met the technical directors of media centre from ECD and Goma Union.
They were preparing for a broadcast through the transmitter at Butembo.

This is because Congolese use French and they cannot use programs of Hope Channel since Hope Channel transmits in English.
Since I am the director of Radio and Television of Butembo, and I didn't know about the situation, I got very interested in their discussion.

After the meal, we were back on the road.

Our next destination was Makele Pygmy camp.
Most of Pygmies rejected civilization and entered the forest.

They are living on hunting.
Many organizations tried evangelizing the Pygmies but they never succeeded.
So we sent the Congolese pastors to dwell among them, as a result, we have many disciples living at the Pygmy camp now.
We have several Pygmy camps to take the gospel to, and Makele camp is one of them.
The Pygmies together with the Congolese formed a church.
Now pastor Katsongeri and his family are serving the Pygmies in their camp.

They are still short in faith just like their height but we hope that their faith will grow and they will be giants in faith.
For that reason we have to work more, study more, pray more and support them more.

We left the camp after meal, and we met parades of women since it was women's day.
It was not easy to pass the women.

They only allowed us to pass because we were foreigners.

We spent the night at Bunia in a hotel. At three o’clock in the morning the following day,

we were back on the road heading to our last destination Bethel church.
On the way, we stopped by a small town for breakfast; the residents came out to see strange wazungus (not black people).
So I took out my camera to take a photo of the children, everyone fled from me when they saw the camera.

(Maybe they did not have an experience with a camera.)
But when I showed them the pictures I had taken, all of them crowded the lens.
When I saw that, I realized the great need of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Civilization would come later.

Many children gathered around us because of the bread we were eating.
Vennah who is a Congolese missionary shared the bread with children.

When the other children saw that, they all came to have a share of the bread.

How can we give them spiritual food, Jesus Christ? I wondered.

The road to Bethel church was very bad and rough.

We changed the car tires 4 times, and a part from that, we changed the wheel bearing of tire.

We passed many trucks that were out of order.

Some people maybe spent the night under the trucks.

That day it rained with hailstorms making the road impassable.

As we were on the way, we came across a bridge.

Many trucks were parked by the bridge.

This is because the heavy trucks cannot pass the bridge since it is not strong enough to carry heavy weight.

In that case, the trucks must offload the cargo first before crossing the bridge.

Then later when the truck has passed then they load again.

In most cases they spend a week on the way.

Fortunately, we did not meet any truck that blocked the way.

Otherwise we could have spent the night under the jeep.

According to pastor Malembe, during the rainy seasons, you have to prepare to spend 1 week on the way.

Finally, we arrived at Bethel church at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon.

We arrived after two days; Pastor Lukando who is working in Bethel was amazed.
We saw many children who were waiting for us with twigs in their hands about 1km from the church.
They were singing from Bethel church.

We moved forward about 100m, we met another crowd which was singing and dancing as they were waiting for us.
We could not move forward anymore, so we got out of the jeep and we embraced each other and moved forward while singing.

We were welcomed in a warm way.

That took away our fatigue.

We were treated like presidents.
After working for two years, we were now seeing the fruits of our labor.

It is a miracle from God.

Am grateful that God used me to realize this miracle.

It is amazing how God works.

The work is not yet finished.

It has just started.

No one knows the miracles that are ahead of us.

God should be glorified in all these.

I hope to continue being part of this miracle at Bethel church.
