CONGO MISSION  REPORT 2010

We thank and praise the Lord who has been with us for the last one year. He has been with us always during dangerous and hard travel from Bunia to Goma, and He has given us good fruits which we couldn’t expect. But we cannot report this if there was no support from our Churches in Korea and America. Thus all these reports are not ours, but our Lord’s works and our churches works. We are just channel for God’s love and our brethren’s love. And also if there was no cooperation and help of North Kivu Field, we couldn’t do anything. So we thank our church organization.

These are simple reports for our activities in North Kivu Field.

1. Sisterhood Project

This sisterhood project was started with Washington-Spencerville church in USA from last 2009, and many Korean churches joined together until we have 45 sister churches in NKF.
We have 2 Korean American Churches in USA, and 9 churches from South East Korean Conference, 2 churches from West Central Korean Conference, 2 churches from East Central Korean Conference, and 1 church from South West Korean Conference. And among these churches, 2 churches have supported 2 missionaries, and this project is developing continue.
The purpose of this project is not financial supporting, we planned to encourage and motivate churches to spread gospel to the world. And we see we are close to this object.
The table below is the numbers of Public Evangelistic Meeting and Baptism of our sister churches in 2009 we started this project and this year this project is going on well. For reference we exclude 13 churches which were included late of this year as sister churches, because we cannot analysis objectively.
The number of Public Evangelistic Meeting was 32 times in 2009, and 77 times up to November 30, 2010. Numbers are 240% increased, and 2.4 times of Public Evangelistic Meeting were held for each church on the average this year.
The numbers of Baptism was 253 in 2009; it is 7.9 persons for each church on the average. But number of this year is 769, it means 24 persons were baptized for each church on the average and 303% are increased compare with 2009.

And we are looking for 2 more Theology students to support scholarship.
And also we start to support 4 CRJA School in NKF, so many students who couldn’t have chance to study on time will be benefited. Especially most of students of those schools are non Adventists, thus this support will be affected to evangelize students.
And also we supported roof of 4 classrooms of Rwese Primary School and to construct floors of 7 classrooms with cement at Irango Primary School at Lukanga.

4. Bethlehem Bread Factory Project

Bethlehem Bread Factory was started for financial self-supporting and Lukanga Orphanage, and a lot of investments were made for this project as we started to run factory from Jun 2010. We trained bakers and continue we made bread until we have market, and two shops were opened.
And also we bought one car to carry the ingredients and bread, and to sell the bread, and we made 4 special carts to cell bread in the town.
But still we have problem with electricity, because we need a lot of power to run all the machines, and this work consumes a lot of fuel. But with grace of God Rwese Mission is preparing hydropower, and if it is done, we will not have any problem with electricity. That’s why we moved our factory to Rwese last Sunday (December 5, 2010).
But we need transformer to finish this electricity, and it is not possible to buy with our own budgets. We are praying to God to gives us it.
Our Bethlehem Bread is now already known to the people, and it is best bread which people can find at Butembo. If we sell a lot and we have enough income, this Bethlehem Bakery will be grown up as institute of financial supporting for our mission work. Please pray for this project.

5. Poultry Farming Project

Another project which will help financial self-supporting with Bethlehem project is Poultry Farming Project. This project started by sponsorship of Washington-Spencerville Church, and 120 chickens are bringing about 80 eggs every day. Soon we will bring 200 chickens more and produce eggs. We are almost finishing new building for store and place for watchman, and we will make one room as hatchery, so that we will produce chicks by ourselves.
If this project is made steady headway, it will be good financial resources for our mission work.

6. Orphanage

We have one orphanage with 20 children at Lukanga, one of professor of UNLUK was helping these children by the support of MAHA Mission. From July 2010, we started to manage this orphanage by ourselves, and we bought our own house by the support of ADRA KOREA, last Sunday we had move in ceremony for this orphanage at Lukanga.
All the children are connected with donors as sisterhood of ADRA KOREA, and after finishing support from MAHA, this orphanage will be supported by Bethlehem and ADRA KOREA.
For the new building, we have work of construction more, we need your prayer.

7. Layman Training Center.

Most important Project which we are processing is Layman Training Center. It is under foundation work now, and soon first building will be started. We will build Chapel, two dormitories, cafeteria, office, and an official residence.
From next year we will receive applications, and first training program will be started, and we will send them to the field as missionaries for 1 year with monthly stipend
There are many places that there is no pastor, no evangelist still, and we need to educate church leaders and elders. So this Layman Training Center will help this church to grow up more quickly and to make balanced development.
We need support not only from Korea, but also from our Union and churches in Congo

Cooperation with Church

All these projects are cooperated with our churches and Mission. Without any help from churches and our Mission, we cannot do anything.
Sisterhood Project is guided by North Kivu Field, and NKF is giving the list of the Churches which are needed construction, Scholarship Project is also part of cooperation with UNILUK and our Education Department, Bethlehem and Poultry Project, Layman Training Center is on the plot of NKF. Orphanage also part of NKF work.
And Korean Church also supported mini bus (15 seats) and copy machine to cooperate our work. Because of we are one. We are working for same goal.

Especially We thank our Leaders of KUC(Korean Union Conference) and NSD(Northern Asian Pacific Division). Because of their determination and support we can serve Congo Churches. May God bless you all.
