There are a number of words in Hebrew that are also in Egyptian. The word On refers to a place in Egypt On = 'Iwnw (see Gardiner 1927 and 1988: 106). It is the city of Heliopolis near Cairo.

Added to this is also the word for sea in Hebrew that is yom and in Egyptian it is ym (see Gardiner 1927 and 1988: 556).

The word for death in Hebrew is from the root mwt and in Egyptian the word is m(w)t (see Gardiner 1927 and 1988: 568).

The Old Testament concept of death is that death is from inside and eternal life is from outside.

The Ancient Near Eastern Concept of death is that death is from outside and eternal life is from inside. An article by Lloyd R. Bailey dealt with "Biblical Perspectives on Death". The Egyptians had an optimistic view of their gods while the Mesopotamians (Assyria, Babylon) had a pessimistic view of their gods.
