---The Purim Festival and its origin is in the Book of Esther.

---What is the form the festival has?

---How can we find out?

---Many people run to a Rabbi or a Synagogue or the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

---Well, how can we know?

--- ---If I did not study Judaism as a major under Jewish scholars and Rabbi Izak ben Joseph in my young days, I would not have known this.

---An overview of the Jewish traditions can be given as follows: Jews claim their heritage of liturgy and views from Oral Tradition of Moses to Joshua, Joshua to Elders, Elders to Prophets, Prophets to the Great Synagogue, Great Synagogue to the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem (from about 165 BC until 70 AD).

---Judaism was very conservative until Antiochus Epiphanes and then a set of Sanhedrin scholars came in five pairs with the fifth pair as Hillel and Shammai.

---Hillel died in 10 AD. He was very liberal. He created seven logical rules how you can grab the Bible and squeeze out of it new rules to satisfy and maintain yourself in society and culture.

---The Liberal (progressive) Adventist is doing the same thing insisting that Biblicism is wrong and Fundamentalism should be avoided.

---Shammai was the conservative one who tried to keep literal to the simple reading of the Bible.

---The Mainstream Adventist is doing the same thing insisting that Biblicism is correct and Fundamentalism should be honored.

---The teacher of Paul, Gamaliel, was from the Shammai school.

---When Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD, the Sanhedrin moved to Yabneh and from there to Lidda and from Lidda to Usha and from Usha to Sepphoris and from Sephoris to Tiberias.

---In 70 AD Jonathan ben Zakkai was made head of the Bet Din or Sanhedrin.

---Ben Zakkai was very liberal and belonged to the school of thinking of Hillel.

---Paul died in 64 AD and did not survive to experience this trauma.

---The Saddusees were very conservative and rejected any oral traditions accumulated since Antiochus Epiphanes times until 70 AD. They disappeared in 70 AD.

---The Pharisees liked all kinds of new inventions and adjustments to the Law of Moses and Law of God and that is why Jesus had a hard time with them for overlooking the core messages of the Word of God.

---The Pharisees believed putatively that the oral traditions they maintained was gathered from the Sanhedrin and the Great Synagogue before the Sanhedrin and before that from the oral traditions of the prophets and they in turn from the oral traditions of Elders and before that oral traditions of Joshua given to the elders and before that oral traditions from Moses to Joshua on Mount Sinai.

---Some were true. But some were clearly wishful thinking.

---The principle of bypassing the simple literal reading of the Word of God was definitely not handed down from Moses to anyone. Neither from the prophets to anyone. Again wishful thinking.

---Ben Zakkai as new leader after 70 AD at Yabneh decided to give Judaism and new autonomy. He was a disciple of Hillel the liberal.

---The principle of liberalism and the uplifting of the authority of the Halakha interpretation of the Word of God was applied.

---It was a permissive attitude towards restrictions in the Law of God.

---They were no longer strict like the disciples of Shammai, including Gamaliel including Paul. Hello.

---Are you reading in Adventist Today articles about the developmental Ellen White and that you can pick and choose what you want to believe from her or not?

---Who is it? Hillel or Shammai?

---Look at www.fulcrum7.com and the articles there. Who are they following? Hillel or Shammai?

---Who do you think the pioneers and Ellen White followed?

---After ben Zakkai at Yabneh, Torah Scholars came: Tannaim (70 AD-200AD); Amoraim (200 AD to 500 AD); Saboraim (500 AD to 700 AD); and the Geonim (700 AD to 1000 AD).

---There were two major Jewish rebellions against Rome under Domitianus in 81 AD and Trajanus between 98-117. Under Hadrian was the Bar Kochba war from 132 AD.

---Rabbi Akiba was the preacher of the eschatological Last Days imminent to be expected. That is why Simon Bar Koziba was name “Bar Kochba” = Son of a Star and Rabbi Akiba called him “king Messiah” and applied Numbers 24:17 to him.

---Akiba became the First coming of the Messiah preacher and announcer. He travelled to Palestine, Turkey and also to Babylonia. He preached that the coming of the Messiah was at hand. That was in 132 AD.

---But Preterism took the weapons in the hand and with a civil right attitude they thought to realize God’s Kingdom on earth for Him so that the Messiah King is put on the throne by them.

---Hillelism hermeneutics. “Progressive” interpretation of the Word of God.

---Are you still reading Adventist Today? As if it is biblical “truth”? Hello.

---The Tannaim scholars of the Jewish Law were operating until 200 AD. The Amoraim were working between 200 AD and 500 AD.

---The Saboraim scholars of the Jewish Law worked between 500 AD and 700 AD and the Geonim scholars of Jewish Law worked between 700 AD to 1000 AD.

---The Geonim codified Jewish Law for Judaism.

---Jewish oral traditions were delivered from Rabbi Akiba in 132 AD to the town of Usha to Rabbi Meir.

---Meir passed it on to Beth Shearim town to Rabbi Simeon ben Gamaliel who passed it on Judah Hannasi between 135-220 AD.

---Judah Hannasi compiled the Mishna in 6 volumes/sedarim and 63 tractates.

---Can the Mishna tell you how Jews thought in the time of Jesus? Jesus died in 31 AD. That is more than a century before. Can our daily thinking be superimposed on people who are living in 1920 as saying it was similar?

---The Amoriam scholars of the Jewish Law at Tiberias and Sepphoris with Rabbi Judah II extended the Jewish traditions and extended the Mishna to add the Gemata of the Talmud. It is the Talmud Yerushalami.

---So will it help us to grab a Mishna book and use the form of liturgy in it to imitate Jesus’ Lord Supper event?

---No. Why not? Because it is over a century removed from the time of Jesus and secondly the trueness of Truth received a liberal incorporation since 70 AD with Ben Zakkai. Got it?

---So do not try to imitate Jews by celebrating the Purim festival as if it is the same as the Old Testament times in the book of Esther.

---The form was codified or published only near to 200 AD. Jesus died in 31 AD. Can you see the dilemma?

---Can I visit a 2023 Synagogue in Jerusalem to get the feeling how Jesus felt when He visited a Synagogue in His days?

---No. Why not? The way they worship was designed later. Their chants are influenced by Christian Byzantine chants and even Islam influences. That is 400 AD and 700+ AD.

---The Rabbis of the Tenth Century all wrote in Arabic. If you want to read Saadya Gaon’s commentary on Daniel (930 AD) you need to know Arabic. But translations in English are available.

---Our Adventist Hebrew scholar from Andrews University, Jacques Doukhan, wrote his doctorate on this scholar.

---If you want to read the commentary of Yaphet ibn ali halevi on Daniel in 968 AD, it is also in Arabic originally but there is a good translation online.

---We are back to the Purim festival in the Book of Esther.

---In 358 AD, Rabbi Hillel II designed a calendar to determine the New Moon and that is the one that is used today by Jews. Can we use this calendar to determine when festivals were in the time of Moses in 1440 BC?

---I hope that it is now clearer why we must be very careful to try and imitate modern Jewish worship styles or forms and superimpose it upon Moses or David or Jesus or Paul. Correct?

---Are there imitators among Adventists of Jewish cultic practices like Passover or Purim festivals near your church? Now you know somewhat better, I hope.
