Kenneth Strand said about the Seals of Revelation 6 in his book Interpreting the book of Revelation 2nd ed. 1979

"Whether these events come immediately before the end or whether they represent general conditions that will prevail throughout the period preceding the end is a more difficult question".

Here are seven models postulated for the interpretation of the Seals of Revelation 6.

The Lamb or Christ opened the book with seven seals.

There are four creatures who respond with "Come".

There are souls under the altar of martyrs who at one point suffered for their lives and awaits wrath to revenge their gruesome death. This is a vision and in visions there may not be the exact reality as we visualize it concretely in our own world. The rest of the Bible do not endorse an immortality of the Bible doctrine so this is just a vision to explain something to John.

In Acts Peter saw also a vision and was asked to eat unclean animals. They were not real but only symbols.

One thing is for certain, Seal 6 is at the Eschaton and the book of Joel chapters 2-3 are applicable here.

It appears as if the 5th Seal is opened during the Time of Trouble (Daniel 12:1-2).
