---Jacob learned a lot from suffering the deception by Laban.

---He passively accepted all without rebellion.

---Because of his attitude, he was able to hear the voice of God more clearly.

---God told him to leave Laban and return to his family.

---Ellen White added that he had to leave Laban because the sons of Laban may eye his wealth and try to take it by violence, as she said in Patriarchs and Prophets 193.

---30 years after the death of Joseph started the 400 years oppression until the Exodus (see Gal 3:17-19). It is not from the death of Abraham but from Joseph.

---The Exodus date is calculated in 1 Kings 6:1-4 from the 4th year of Solomon, which is 967/966 BC with Thiele/Horn and 970 BC with Shea/Davidson.

---970 moving back 480 years brings us to 1450 BC for the Exodus under Thutmosis III.

---The law was given two years later in 1448 and from this 400 years are counted thus, 1848 for the oppression to start, 30 years after Joseph's death. Thus Joseph died in 1878 BC.

--Joseph was born 110 years before this when Jacob left Laban in 1988 BC.
