Genesis 14:15-17
15 During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
16 He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people.
17 After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).

17 아브람이 그돌라오멜과 그와 함께한 왕들을 파하고 돌아올 때에 소돔왕이 사웨 골짜기 곧 왕곡에 나와 그를 영접하였고

다메섹은 이스라엘의 북쪽 시리아의 한 도시입니다. 단에서 그들을 따라잡아 도망하는 그들을 다메섹 까지 쫓아가서 그들이 노획했던 모든 재물과 사람들, 그리고 사랑하는 롯도 되찾아 왔습니다. 아브라함을 어떤 사람으로 생각하고 있었나요? 너그럽고 하나님께 순종하는 사람이었던 그는 동시에 용맹스런 인물이었음을 볼 수 있습니다. 사자의 입에서라도 그 사랑하는 양을 다시 빼앗아 온전히 회복하시는 우리의 군대장관 예수 그리스도의 모습입니다.

Damascus is a city in Syria which is north of Israel. Abram overtook them at Dan and pursued the fleeing soldiers all the way to Damascus. He was able to recover the booties and rescue all the people, including his nephew Lot. What kind of picture did you have about Abraham? He was a generous man, and obedient to God. We see his another aspect to be a courageous man. This is a feature of Jesus Christ our Commander in Chief, who would rescue his beloved sheep even from the mouth of a lion and recover in full.
