When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder

 

1 When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound,

and time shall be no more,

And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;

When the saved of earth shall gather

over on the other shore,

And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

 

sound: 소리 나다

break: 깨뜨리다, 부수다, (날이) 새다

bright: 밝은

fair: 맑게 갠, 고운, 아름다운

shore: 바닷가, 해안, 해변

roll: 명부, 출석부

call the roll: 출석을 부르다, 점호하다

yonder: 저쪽에, 거기에

2 On that bright and cloudless morning,

when the dead in Christ shall rise,

And the glory of His resurrection share;

When His chosen ones shall gather

to their home beyond the skies,

And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

 

cloudless: 구름 없는

rise: 일어나다

resurrection: 부활

share: 나누다, 공유하다

choose, chose, chosen: 선택하다

 

3 Let us labor for the Master

from the dawn till setting sun,

Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care,

Then, when all of life is over,

and our work on earth is done,

And the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there.

 

labor: 일하다, 애쓰다, 노력하다

master: 주인; the Master: 주 예수 그리스도

dawn: 새벽

sun set: 일몰

wondrous: 놀라운

care: 걱정, 근심, 돌봄, 보살핌
