One of the aspects that we can see in Lesson VI of A. Gardiner's Egyptian Grammar is the connection that there is between the words of Moses in Psalm 90:4 where Moses said of God: "For a thousand years (are) in your eyes like a day". Compare this expression of Moses with the Middle Egyptian example in Gardiner Lesson VI A. 10 which reads: "Eternity, in his sight is like a day". We are not sure if Gardiner picked this expression from an example on the pyramids but in all likelihood it is a known expression. Such a comparison will not surprise us at all. The value of studying Egyptian for the semantics of the Old Testament, especially Moses, for the hapax legomena and for rare expressions, cannot be emphasized enough. Later authors took over from Moses his loanwords of Hebraized Egyptianisms and used it in their own linguistics.
