Ellen White
skipped errors of D’Augbine in her citations for GC

van Wyk (DLitt et Phil; ThD), Visiting Professor, Kyungpook National
University, Department of Liberal Education, Sangju Campus, South Korea,
Conjoint lecturer of Avondale College, Australia
Ellen White
used sources for the writing of Great Controversy in the same way as writers of
the Old and New Testaments used sources. Just as the Holy Spirit guided the
prophet or inspired writer to skip errors in the Bible, Church Historian prof.
dr. Kenneth Strand of Andrews University wrote on this manuscript handed out on
25th of November 1981 as class-material, that Ellen White quoted not
the errors of D’Augbine when she wrote Great Controversy.
Strand listed
some errors by D’Augbine as source but he also indicated that the error is not
found in Great Controversy.
It helps us to
appreciate and understand how inspiration works.
Dear God
We live with
skeptical minds in our denomination under the cover and thin veneer of
religiosity and even standing in college classes. We appreciate to understand
that she missed the errors of D’Augbine. Help us to cling to the Holy Spirit as
our navigator too. Amen
