bible.jpgHave you heard of stories about people who were asking God or looking for some answers or solution to their dilemma, and when they randomly opened their Bibles, they found the answer right away in a verse or two? Well, I have heard a lot of testimonies of how God's answer comes just in time.


With this in mind, I decided to fast and pray for one day, asking God's special guidance in a particular situation that I was in.  This is the second time that I fasted, abstaining from any solid food, I only drink water.


While earnestly praying to God for help, I was firm in my belief that He would give me the exact answer through His holy words,  even though I would just open it randomly.


I was WRONG!


I didn't find the answer I wanted to see...


Instead, I found MORE than just an answer to my prayer.


I found GOD!


How foolish of me to think that I would find the exact "yes or no" answer in the Bible, without FIRST seeking God's face. I was so absorbed in finding the answers to my questions that I forgot about the ONE who has all the answers.


I guess, my lack of faith caused me to focus more on the tangible answer, rather than to focus my mind on God. He has promised in Matthew 6:33,


But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.


and yet, at that moment, I forgot the promise.



REFLECTION:


May we seek God's kingdom and righteousness, study and meditate upon His character, FIRST, before presenting our requests. We are to humble and empty ourselves of whatever pride, selfishness, or any sin that separates us from God. By seeking His will, His righteousness, we are submitting ourselves to Him. We are telling God that we are willing to accept and  that we trust whatever answer He's going to give us.


Only then, we are ready to receive the answer. Jesus is more than just an answer to our prayers. To seek Him is far more precious than finding all the answers in life.


As the song goes, "When answers aren't enough, He is there."
