The King of Love My Shepherd Is

1. The King of love my shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am his
And he is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow,
My ransomed soul he leadeth

lead: 인도하다
verdant: 신록의, 초록의
pasture: 초장
grow: 자라다
celestial: 하늘의, 천상의
feed: 먹이다

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love he sought me
And on his shoulder gently laid
And home rejoicing brought me.

perverse: 비뚤어진, 벗어난, 사악한
foolish: 어리석은
oft: 자주
stray: 길을 잃다, 헤매다
seek sought sought: 찾다, 추구하다
shoulder: 어깨
lay laid laid : 놓다, 눕다
rejoice: 기뻐하다
bring brought brought: 나르다, 데려오다

2. In death's dark vale I fear no ill
With thee, dear Lord, beside me,
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

death: 죽음
vale: 골짜기
fear: 두려워하다
dear: 소중한
beside: 옆에
rod: 막대기
staff: 지팡이
cpmfort: 위로, 격려
cross: 십자가
guide: 안내하다, 인도하다

Thou spredst a table in my sight;
Thine unction grace bestoweth;
And, oh, what transport of delight
With which my cup o'floweth!

sight: 시각, 시야, 봄

unction: 기름
grace: 은혜
bestow: 주다, 수여하다
transport: 수송, 황홀
delight: 기쁨
overflow: 넘쳐 흐르다

And so through all the length of days
Thy goodness faileth never.
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise
Within thy house forever.
