Need of a Conference on Church-Music in our Union in South Korea!

For a long time I have thought about this and now I must say it.

It was very clear to me that our church has inroads form a music form that is not from our church. The youth music at all levels of our schools, kindergarten, elementary school, Middle School, Highschool and even university, even in the theology department, is not following the standards of music for Adventism properly.

There are various kinds of music in Adventism. Music is the strongest tool Satan uses. The music was fine until 2015 or later, when youth music in the church took a serious turn.

Professors at our University in Korea may refine my observations better.

Suddenly, the music that is sung by the Yonsei Central Baptist Church make their presence among the youth on our campus.

Now they are dancing just like the group in the Yonsei Central Baptist Church, at the Post-office on campus?

Is it yoga, new-start health dancing or is it the Yonsei Central Baptist Church religious twisting?

The problems with music misused is when the following tools are used:

1.     Loud acoustics

2.     Overpowering sounds

3.     Repetitive singing of the same refrain.

4.     Encouraging kinetics: raise hand, sway body, hallelujah, amen etc.

5.     Trying to create some kind of a mass-frenzy or mass hysteria of feelings until they cry.

This kind of music is popping-up in our congregations in South Korea.

How to solve this inroad of outside music that is going to choke Adventism in future, and choke it is going to be because youth cannot listen to older people style of music and older cannot listen to younger styles of music.

Why? Because youth is no longer singing from the hymnals but Yonsei Central Baptist Church style of music.

How to stop this dilemma.

We need a Conference on Church-Music at Sahmyook University of all the departments of the church in South Korea.

We need the department of Education of the Church calling all music teachers at all our institutions and choir leaders and music players in church to come and listen to a series of seminars warning on the danger of this outside music for our church.

A principle needs to be spelled out that all levels of education cannot teach the youth from any of the songs from these outside churches.

Secondly, they are only to use our church hymnal for music education.

Why? Youth needs to blend with their parents in order to prepare to take the leadership from the parents when they get older and carry the legacy along.

The current youth music is a transitional phase to ecumenism. That is the dilemma Adventists are going to face three years from now on!

And it is the youth who is going to insist on this. To the shock of their passive older generation.

That is why I call for a Conference on this matter.
