Know Nothing” ---Job 3:11–13;
Psalm 115:17; Psalm 146:4; and Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10. ---But,
commentators are arguing, these are poetry. You cannot use poetry to appeal to
reality. Wrong. Job is an epic drama of an historical event. Real person, real
talking, real situations. Cast in an epic style. ---Psalm 115 says
that the dead are in a place of silence, because “the dead do not praise the
Lord” (Ps. 115:17). ---Psalm 146
reads: “His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans
perish” (Ps. 146:4). ---Ecclesiastes
9 adds that “the dead know nothing” and in the grave “there is no work or
device or knowledge or wisdom” (Eccles. 9:5, 10). ---“These
statements confirm the biblical teaching that the dead are unconscious.” ---There are
many more statements. They all read in the same lines. God said the sinner
dies, Satan said no, something remains living and we know what the Holy Spirit
would have packed in the suitcase of the Bible regarding this matter. ---Do we need
to say more on this matter? Me and my house, we will follow the Lord and not
the ideas of Satan.
