---Peter and
Paul were together in jail and became good friends. They overcame their fights
of early days. ---In 1 Peter
5:13 he wrote his greeting in 58 AD the same as Paul. Paul said “those in Italy”.
Peter said “those in Babylon”. Brothers in affliction and persecution and
death. ---In 2 Peter
it is Peter’s purpose to call us to daily grace but also diligent study and
dedication. One need to make one’s election and calling sure. ---The sofa of
free grace tickets should not be part of the agenda of the Christian. We are to
be a holy nation, a people of God’s own possession (1 Peter 2:9). ---Peter said in 2 Peter, now that you are saved do not make your
salvation useless by your behavior (2 Peter 1:9). “Forgot purification from his
former sins”. ---Peter said there are Alarmist and Sleepers about the nearness of
the second coming (2 Peter 3:12-13). ---One should not be like the Californian style sleepers who says
that Ellen White is a conditional prophet, but an Alarmist like in Matthew 25
with the lamps, keeping the faith in the closeness of the Second Coming in
mind. ---Paul said
the same in 1 Thessalonians 5:6. ---Peter gave a
bookreview of Paul (2 Peter 3:16) and Robert Johnston from Andrews University
said “it is true that Paul ought to have been more careful how he sometimes
expressed himself”. ---What is
Peter then saying? Looking for the Advent; Hastening the Advent; Spotless and
blameless in peace. ---Experiencing
this, we have seen and heard and touch and now should proclaim this message to
the community for their participation.
