Introducing music that touch my heart
Koot van Wyk (DLitt et Phil; Visiting
Professor at Kyungpook National University, Sangju Campus, South Korea)
I am an African although white and
growing up in Africa I cannot but enjoy the nerves of Africa when I hear it.
This is no exception. Forgive me that with the knowledge that syncopation and jazz
should not be brought into worship in music for God, yet I enjoy these songs? May the Lord forgive me if I do wrong here but I love it so much. In a foreign land I feel at home with God and with myself when I hear this. I am back in Africa then! I do not intend to bring it
in my own environment. I do not encourage it. Keep Ellen White philosophy of Music always in front of us and in no way shift it aside. I merely want to say here, they
are gifted with talents for an ear for
music that we lack. They can get carried away as one can see but there is
something artistic mixed with ministerial in their presentation. They preach
while they sing! They give testimonies, explain their
own history, encourage others to immediately hop on the bus with them singing.
Mesmerism is dangerous and acoustic control can be very dangerous manipulation audiences. My focus here is on the
words and on the (albeit 'African') style of the singers listed here. Lastly. I
include a white singer with an African gospel song. Great music.

classical case where the pastor singer sings with a ministry and let halfway
through the audience become churchmembers worshipping God and he is just choir
