The guide was not written by dr. LaRondelle but appeared after his death. His booklet, Christ our Salvation: What God does for us and in us (Berrien Springs, MI: First Impressions, 1988 [3rd edition]), is copied with a scanner and then notes were supplied by this researcher to assist the student. Divine Election and Providence is chapter one of the book. Divine Election and Providence was misunderstood by Theodore Bezae who succeeded John Calvin and caused members of his own persuasion to react against his absolute views which had far-reaching consequences that are non-biblical and harsh. Jacob Armenius reacted against Bezae and Adventism prefer the mild view of Armenius because it is biblical and bring a balance again to the issue of Election and Providence. What strike us about the topic is not so much predestination or predetermination but the preparedness of God to deal with the problem of sin and the solution of salvation. We are thankful for that.
