---One thing we
learn from the lesson very well, is that Ellen White in her last statement
calls for the acceptance of God as He offers, as He commands, as He promises,
as He requires in the text of His word. ---His text says
it, it is true, it will happen, it must happen, I will do it, He will give me,
there is no if and but. ---Perfection. ---“Well that is
another story”. ---Is it? ---No. ---Also
required. By whom? Christ. ---“How can we
harmonize our dwarfed spiritual condition with the presentation of our text
[Eph. 3:14–19] that describes the fullness of knowledge it is our privilege to
possess? How can Heaven look upon us, who have had every spiritual and temporal
advantage that we might grow in grace, when we have not improved our
opportunities?” Advent Review and Sabbath
Herald October 1 1889. ---Nice question
by Ellen White. If we are skew, and the Bible and Paul says be straight, how
can we straighten ourselves? ---Answer: we
cannot. ---That is half
the answer. The other half is, we can. If we follow the opportunities provided
from the Holy Spirit, Christ and the Father in our hearts and minds. ---The Trinity
is not like Satan and his demons. They do not push themselves onto your will
bending you, pushing you, forcing you, clinging to you, ---Satan uses
fear God uses love. Godly love. ---Kindness is
not love if it is serving Satan eventually. ---True kindness
is sometimes strongly connected to sacrifice and deprivation rather than
joining in and participation. ---Is it
biblical? Is it moral? ---You cannot
say, the woman is lonely, so I am going to be kind and stay with her and end up
immoral. That is sin not kindness. ---Christ did
not do it. Not even for one moment was there in Him any thought or passion for
sin. ---Then He was
not human. ---Do not say
it. The Bible says He took upon Himself the form of a sinful flesh (Romans 8:1). ---Did you read
sinful flesh? ---So when Ellen
White is asking us to do homework to adapt to Ephesians 3:14-19, that is what
it means. Take the text seriously and believe that God can fix things for you. ---There was a
laypreacher from the United States with the name of Andrew Kang in our Union in
Korea. ---His uncle was
a very powerful speaker. Logical, simple, clear, and had a large following. ---But his uncle
wanted to be separate from the SDA organized movement, yet SDA. ---He did not
agree on this with his uncle. ---Then he sold
his property in the USA as Engineer and came as laypreacher to Korea. ---He studied at
Sahmyook University and got his Preacher Certificate from Sahmyook Theological
Department. ---He preached the
overcoming, perfection calling, obedience calling message as an ability and not
as an impossibility. ---A committee was
set up to allocated whether he is a heretic or not. ---They gave him
all the liberal theologians in Adventism to read. Zurcher, Priebe, Douglass,
Batchelor, was not there. ---They gave him
Knight, who does not have a degree in theology but in Education. ---They gave him
LaRondelle who was negative on the possibility of perfection in line with his
Doctor Vater G. Berkhouwer and both in line with Luther and Luther in line with
Aquinas and Aquinas in line with Augustine. Now you know. ---For months he
studied it and wrote his points to them. ---They send him
over a hundred objections. ---A professor
in New Testament from Southern Adventist University emeritus heard about it and
wrote a letter that they should not make any decision against Andrew Kang
because that is the standard approach by the GC on this matter. ---The Committee
continues their deliberations. They did not call him a “heretic” but did not
pronounce him “hands off” either. ---The Union president
and members of this committee went last month to a BRI meeting in a neighboring
country. ---He asked
them: If someone preachers Perfection attainable before the Second Coming, does
the 2003 ruling of the GC still stands that there are two issues on the nature
of Christ and salvation in Adventism and that the two groups should not blame
each other? ---BRI spokesman
for GC said: Yes. It still applies. ---Everyone
heard it. Many members of the “heretic assessment committee” as well. ---If the GC
ruling of 2003 still stands, and if the BRI representative at the 2023 meeting
is supporting it, the Union president of Korea made a decision: Andrew Kang
will be declared “Not a heretic”. ---He came back,
held a meeting with another conference included as well and other high
officials and church elders and they decided unanimously that according to the
procedure books of the GC, “Andrew Kang is not a heretic and may not be called
so”. ---Wonderful how
the Spirit of God works. Correct? ---Andrew Kang
is very successful as a preacher because of what? Content. What content? The
unpopular content for secular minded people. ---Those with
high salaries and mercs and beamers and shiny cars. And houses, large palaces.
They are not interested in “overcoming”, “obedience in all”, “go and sin not
more” (sorry Jesus).
