the sources in line: Ellen White wrote Desire of Ages saying that the
heel of Christ was crushed by Satan but every attack by forces used by Satan in
mocking, inflicting pain, causing suffering, causing shouts against Christ,
every one of these actions brought Satan lower and lower sinking while Christ
in contrast of these actions was actually crushing the head of the snake
predicted in Genesis 3:15. She wrote it when Desire of Ages was compiled
and it was her theology consistent about this verse. In Prophets and Kings page 692 she wrote: "Every pang of anguish, every insult, was working out the deliverance of the [human] race". She said "The anguish that sin has brought was poured into the bosom of the Sinless, yet while Christ endured the contradiction of sinners against Himself, He was paying the debt for sinful man and breaking the bondage in which humanity had been held". What a theology of the Bible and explanation of Genesis 3:15! ---Plummer
wrote his Matthew commentary in 1910 saying that it was not the nails that kept
Him on the cross but His divine will to save the lost. Ellen White said the
similar in Desire of Ages. He could have done many things that they mock
Him for but He did not and would not in order to save humanity. Plummer is
after Ellen White. ---Then George
Eldon Ladd wrote in 1994 in his Theology of the New Testament exactly what
Ellen White said about Genesis 3:15: that all heaven triumphed in the Saviors
victory because Satan was defeated and he lost his kingdom. Ellen White
explained it deeper, he lost his power “In death He gained the victory over the
power, in rising again, He opened the gates of the grave to all the followers.
Through death He destroyed “him that had power to death, that is, the devil”
Hebrews 2:14. This act decided the destiny of the rebel chief, and made forever
sure the plan of salvation. When Christ hung in agony upon the cross , while
evil spirits rejoiced and evil men reviled, then indeed His heel was bruised by
Satan. But that very act was crushing the serpent’s head. His wounds became the
trophies of His victory in behalf of the [human] race” Ellen White in Prophets
and Kings pp. 692; 701; 702. Ladd could not say it more directly than Ellen
White. Is this not amazing? ---Ellen White
brought out the depth of the Bible that other scholars later also saw but just
vaguely touched upon. A woman with no education but the Spirit of God leading
her thoughts on pen. She said that when she wrote something, she also have to
study it to understand what she wrote. That is what she said to M. L. Andreasen
who stayed as a young man 90 days with her to see how she writes her books.
