offering? What is the biblical principle behind it? ---Deuteronomy 16:17 is given but the text
really starts in 16:16: “and they do not appear before Jehovah (Lord)
empty; 17 each
according to the gift of his hand, according to the blessing of Jehovah (Lord) your
God, which He has given to you.” (Young’s Literal Translation adapted). ---The first principle is, coming to
church, the believer does not want to come to the Lord empty in hands. ---So what does the believer do? The
believer plan to go to the Lord with something that we call offerings. ---Daily you offer yourself as available
to the Lord for that day, in whomever you meet, you will mirror His agape (Godly)
love to them. You offer yourself to be an instrument for Him and His Spirit in
you to shine to them. ---You do not know what to say or do, but
you do not need to. At the point you will do things that will surprise yourself
later thinking about it. The Spirit did it for you through you. ---Do you know that is what happened to
Ellen White writing Desire of Ages? ---The Encyclopaedia
or Dictionary on Ellen White, did not include the famous Testimony on Ellen
White in 1955 at the Oregon Campmeeting in a sermon delivered by M. E. L.
Andreasen. ---These days Andreasen is ostracized for
his views. He was a man with a temper and had problems and stress with the
leaders. Why? Because he felt the church was compromised in 1954-1957 with the
QOD publication by the GC. ---He told them that they are citing Ellen
White incomplete in the QOD because if you read further to what she wrote she
emphasize the importance of not only our status in heaven but also
sanctification and overcoming all habits and all sins unto perfection before
Jesus comes. She says that Jesus came to show us how to do it. The leaders paid
no attention to what he said, says J. Zurcher in his study of it in Touched by His Feelings. ---Sorry for the Andreasen background. The
stress gave him stomach problems and he died of it shortly afterwards. God will
hold those accountable who did it. May God have mercy on them. ---Andreasen was a doctoral student in
English Literature at Chicago University at the end of the Victorian Period. He
got Desire of Ages of mrs. White and read it. ---He could not believe his eyes. How can
she write like this? “Jesus is unborrowed…” statement? Where did she get this
deep theology? He wanted to know. ---He said in the testimony he asked Ellen
White to stay with her to see how she writes. She gave him 90 days to stay with
her. [And to think our Dictionary or
Encyclopaedia did not include this testimony transcribed!] ---Who were the Editors? Why? Do they have
an anti-Andreasen bias? ---He said he was there every day. He
asked her about some things she wrote in Desire
of Ages. ---She said to him, “You know what, I have
to also study it as you do to see what I wrote”. ---And did she write it or her
stenographers or helpers? Andreasen said she did. Her helpers would take it and
correct grammar but, they had to bring it back to her to see if it was still
the same as she was given by the Spirit. ---He said he lost all his skepticism
about her. ---Ellen White principle here: you cannot
give something from the Lord if you are not surrendered to the Lord. ---And that is what offerings are. Your
eyes will know what the Lord did to you so you give back to God with a happy
and joyful heart for the Lord likes a joyful and happy willing giver. ---How much? It is up to you. There are
people who give a second tithe as a fixed principle about this in their lives.
It is up to you.
