and how Jews were constantly looking for a sign in those days. Reason? They
knew the Messiah was to come soon and secondly, a political Messiah. They knew
about Elijah before the Messiah comes. Thus a sign or “trigger” was expected. But
John the Baptist came. Some did some refused to accept it in those days in 27
AD. ---Greeks? They liked disputes at market places, temple steps, and
tourist visited around to attend the religious and political festivals, since
they had 157 holidays a year! Waste of time on foolishness of worldliness. ---Sensual pleasures and passions of the eyes, ears, taste, touch
and memory were fed with nonsense daily. ---Greeks looked for so-called wisdom but it was neo-platonism,
stoicism, pantheism, endless dialogues and disputes on these sophistry. Like
dr. Van Zyl, our Church professor said years ago: Disputes of how many angels
can dance on the pin of a needle! Foolish. ---But, the power of the Holy Spirit is for Christians (verse 24)
where they preach Christ that came in 31AD according to Daniel 9:24-27, exactly
on time. ---Reaction of Jews: not accepting the sign and make it a
stumblingblock. ---Reaction of Greek: consider Christian preaching foolishness. ---Why? They all were money-loving and looked for ways to increase
their pockets and waste their time with base things. ---Years ago Pastor Gerhard van Wyk preached: “What was dripping
from the cross was not honey…but blood”. ---But blood is and was the currency of heaven. It bought. It
bought back that was stolen by the Usurper Satan. ---It bought back the property and thus the wedding with the earth
and all who believe on it. ---“It pleased God by the foolishness [of Greeks so considered] of
preaching to save them that believe” (1 Corinthians 1:21 last part).
Evangelism. Mission. Preaching. Teaching. Talking of Christ. Talking of Christ.
Talking of the Cross and Christ. That is true meaning. Pleasing God. And you also?
Now is the time.
