Mysterious works of God through “Spirit of Prophecy”: (Part 1)

5 Sabbath Schools born

in Muutine/Kangeta, Kenya, 300km north of Nairobi;

How do I begin?

There is an Adventist publishing house in Korea, EGPA (Everlasting Gospel Publications Assn. - Elder Cho, Myung Joon).  And these people are dedicated for free distribution world-wide books of the “Spirit of Prophecy”.

In 2009, EGPA has shipped 2 times;  1st container – “YTF” (Yesterday, Today and Forever”-excerpts from “Patriots and Prophets” – 10 chapters,  “the Desire of Ages”-11 chapters, and “the Great Controversy”-16 chapters, total 37 chapter in 470 pages);  51,200 books.          2nd container – “the Story of Redemption” with “the Steps to Christ” – 20,000 books.

By the time when most of “YTF” books were distributed within ECD countries, 10,000 books by mistake went to northern part of Kenya. And we tried to get them back at least about 8,000 of them but pastors suggested I leave them alone.

Elder who took these books has called me several times saying these books did contribute a lot but I was not enthused. Pastor Zacharia called. He is a district pastor, ordained, of Central Kenya Conference, stationed in Muutine/Kangeta area that even most Kenyans do not know where it is.

According to Pastor Zacharia, these books have directly influenced through Crusade conducted by Pastor Mbirithi, district pastor of “Muguga” just outside Nairobi, and produced 5 Sabbath Schools.  We just could not believe this.

Eventually, we accepted invitation and headed to this area;

Mrs. Kim, a one month missionary from Korea,

Kim, Minha (grain offering in OT of Hebrew), a medical missionary with Maha Mission,

Pastor Julius Mbirithi, who has conducted crusade because he is from that area,

Elder Sospeter who initially took books.       Thus, we report in 2 parts.

We headed to north from Nairobi, then north west to Meru town, about 270km, then turn right to east about 50 km to Muutine/Kangeta, adjacent to a national park. Muutine is a district and Kangeta is just another small town in it. Pastor Zacharia has done a tremendous work to expand churches to 14 organized churches and 7 Sabbath Schools even after he gave several churches to neighboring district when they were rearranging districts.

Muutine is located at the foothill of Mt. Kenya, 2nd highest in Africa (5,099m), apparently on a high elevation, and many small towns are hiding along the rolling hills covered with trees. In this forest, there are many people thirsty to hear Good News.

We have talked to many elders of each church whether “Spirit of Prophecy” books really have contributed to people during crusade to come to Jesus?   Also we asked several church members.  All confirm they did.  We didn’t do anything, yet are invited to be witnesses of those souls who accepted Jesus, it bothered our conscience.  Why we cannot believe God’s providence unless and until we see them in our own eyes?

We hereby testify mysterious works of God through Mrs. White’s “Spirit of Prophecy”.  We further testify EGPA’s contribution of SOP books to Africa is working wonders with the help of the Holy Spirit.   We have common notion that Ellen G. White is a prophetess of the Adventist church, but never realized her writings have power to understand the “Word”. We believe all of her books point at the Bible and that’s why the providence of God works through her writings.

On the way to Kalimbene church, there is a small Kenyan military base called “Kalimbene General Service Unit” (GSU).  One elder happens to donate one box (about 50 books) to this small military base; 4 soldiers were baptized, and the 5th soldier (Fephason Elimo) was baptized on Sabbath in front of our eyes.

At below are the names of 5 Sabbath Schools;

1.     Mwerena -       38 baptized members(came out from mother church Muringene)

2.     Thuuru -                     14 members(difficult area due to strong Catholic influence)

3.     Kalutine -                   49 members (Sept 2009 Sabbath School, already organized in   Jan 2010, plans about to build a small church and all out evangelism)

4.     Kanikarui -                  38 members

5.     Kangeta Central -         46 members (renting a town hall for worship. On Sabbath, all churches gathered outside town hall park for divine worship service, about 1,200 gathered)

In part 2, we continue to report on “Kalutine”church children, Sabbath Divine worship service and baptism of about 100.
