---“The sacrificial offerings, and the priesthood of the Jewish system, were instituted to represent the death and mediatorial work of Christ. All those ceremonies had no meaning, and no virtue, only as they related to Christ.” —Ellen G. White, Advent Review and Herald of the Sabbath, December 17, 1872.

---The Pioneers articles on the Sanctuary, Daniel 8:14, The Judgment, 2300 Days, Day-Year Principle between 1846-1904 were collected by Paul A. Gordon. They are in the Ellen White Estate, July 1981. They are also in Sahmyook University Theology Studies Library. They all agree in one voice similar to Adventist Beliefs today.

---Let us go further back in history before 1846. Was the sacrifice a symbol of Christ? What did the Reformers say?

---Johannes Oecolampadius in his Jeremiah Commentary written between 1526-1527 says that the Catholic Papists should be ashamed that they think their Mass is repeating Christ’s sacrifice every day. “…who dare to blaspheme that they sacrifice Christ over again in the wicked Mass” he said in his Commentary on Hebrews written between 1529-1530 (Oecolampadius Heb, 82b-83a).

---Oecolampadius said: “Since Christ was the goal of all Scripture, the Mass in no way could complete what the Old Testament sacrifice figured, because Christ’s death had already done that” (see Oecolampadius Heb, 54a-ab; 56a). Adventists today thinks the same.

---Conrad Pelican who was a Christian Hebraist or Semiticist, who wrote his own Hebrew Grammar before the Reformation, commented on Psalm 40:6 that the author “alluding to the custom of the Gentiles that calls the whole Bible, the books of the law and the prophets, of which the unique goal [scopus] is Christ and the worship of God through Him. All scripture is ended in Him, all genealogies lead to Him, all the ancient history looks forward to Him, the many and varied sacrifices prefigured Him [and] all the promises are fulfilled in Him [my translation: in Whom all promises were implemented] = Pelican 651 …quem tam multa et varia sacrificial praefigurarunt, in quo omnes promissiones implentur”.

---Who is the foundation of the earthly tabernacle? Johannes Oecolampadius said that “the foundation of the tabernacle is not Peter, Paul or any other human but Christ Himself contrary to the Pontifical rashness”.

---Heinrich Bullinger who took over Zurich church from Zwingli and who’s five sons all became pastors except the sixth one, also said something about the sacrifices and Christ. The covenant [with sacrifices and tabernacle and laws] “is not new, as if the ancients did not have Christ, grace, and forgiveness of sins, but [it is] new by comparison to the old, and that the body abolishes the shadow itself with its arrival” Bullinger 84a. Non ideo novum, quasi veteres Christum, gratiam & peccatorum remissionem non habuerint: sed novum collation veteris & quod ipsum corpus access suo aboleverit umbran.

---Calvin was hesitant to pay attention to the detail of the Tabernacle of the Old Testament. “There is no reason for us to be ultra-curious here and to look for some sublime mystery in every nail and other minutae…We must exercise moderation here, and this will happen if we do not try to know more than is revealed to us in Christ” COE II 19:137.1-5, 139,20-140.18; CNTC, 12, 117, 119-120.

---We must keep in mind that the Calvinists know nothing about the Sanctuary Truth.

---Conrad Pelican left out the figure, copies, and realities figured by the copy of the Tabernacle in heaven (Pelican 640). Oecolampadius included them (Oecolampadius Heb., 85b).

---Oecolampadius explains well all the specific allegorical interpretations of the lampstand, the table, the Holy of Holies, and the red heifer (Heb., 98a-99a).  Conrad Pelican avoided it (Pelican 646).

---The Sanctuary detail is well discussed by Adventist Pioneers.

---For those who are interested in the Desmond Ford issue, a similar misunderstanding of the Sanctuary in Heaven process as was with Ford and also with R. Cottrell in the 1950-1970’s (see his autobiography on notes attached to his works submitted to Loma Linda but also available at James White Library).

---A similar misunderstanding originated and was answered in July 7, Review and Herald 1853 by J. N. Andrews.

---Are there Pastors coming to your church to preach clinging to Ford’s ideas and preterism? The Evangelicalism influx is thick with them. Adventism is not interested in their preterism. Thanks. Correct?

---R. Cottrell was the first Adventist to become a member of the Evangelical Society and tried his best to introduce preterism and destroy the Sanctuary Message and Investigative Judgment. Hello. Are you awake?
