Report on “Biringi” town: 

Received 300 Ha land donation;
 
                         (Future Adventist town possible?)
 

One Maha missionary accidently has met “Marie Ovongie”, lady member of parliament (they call deputy) of Congo DR.
She heard Maha’s work in Bethel and wants us to do the same in her home town, Biringi. Maha was favored especially because the governor of “Province Orientale” is a minority Lugwaran.  Deputy Marie Ovongie would like to welcome the Adventists while Biringi has only Catholics and Protestants.
Thus, 10 of us visited Biringi on June 1, 2010. Prior to this we dispatched 2 missionaries on March 2 and they confirm she is influential person in this town.
“Biringi”   
Location:       75km south-west of Aru, administrative city of “Ituri”
Road:            Up to 55km to west of Aru is a good road for Congo standard, then 11km southwest to “Biringi” bridge is rough, and lastly 9km to town is average.
Soil:             Very fertile land, very suitable for agriculture. Hippopotamus live in river, also big fish.
Weather:       Rainy season; 18-28 degrees C, Dry season; 20-30 degrees C.
                   It rains about an hour a day during rainy season.
Population:    Biringi town proper; 6,000    Greater Biringi; 100,000 in 14 small towns.
Residents:     Very kind, sociable. Gives impression they are good natured people.

Advantages;
1.    Should we make a sample farm, teaching them basic grains, vegetables and fruits, this town can be rich very soon.
2.    Big brook flows west to east with large amount of water sufficient to supply agro-water for mass scale farming.
3.    About 1 km from entrance to this land, fountain produce clean drinking water 20,000 liters a day rate.
4.    Clean Catholic hospital operating.
5.    So far Biringi was a dead end, no man visit place. However, this could an advantage to maintain clean, pollution free community, away from bad traditions of modern city.

Disadvantages;
75km from administrative city of Aru, a little bit too far.

Condition of land intending to donate:
Although topic says 300 hectares of land, but it looks to us about 400-500 hectares.
Entrance to this land has about 70 meters of tall, old Mango trees (bears lot of Mangos and we tried, very delicious.), then opens up a huge panorama of flat land. 30 minutes of struggling walk lead to mini jungle hill, where we found very clear potable water coming from big rock on a hill. Further, we proceeded to highest point in this whole area (not really that high) and we can see panoramic view of this land in all directions.
This is surely God given ideal nature where farming can be easy and plentiful.

Suggestion for use of this land as a missionary:
                   Build an ideal Adventist town!
To encourage resident efficient and scientific farming through education and demonstration,
We can help local community for improved living. Through trust, we can introduce Adventist health diet and living, thus lead them to a happy and healthy life to come to Jesus for eternal life.
Should this model succeed, not only other areas of Congo will come and learn but most of African countries will try to copy an ideal Adventist town.
As we depart after3 days of visit, we can only pray. We believe if it is God’s will, Biringi will be very soon an ideal Adventist town.
