        Jesus Paid It All

 

1 I hear the Savior say,

“Thy strength indeed is small;

Child of weakness, watch and pray,

Find in Me thine all in all.”

 

hear: 듣다

savior: 구세주

Thy: <시어, 고어)> your

strength: 힘

indeed: 참으로

weakness: 약함

watch: 지켜보다, 주의하다, 경계하다

pray: 기도하다

find: 찾다

thine: <시어, 고어> your (모음 앞에서)

Jesus paid it all,

All to Him I owe;

Sin had left a crimson stain,

He washed it white as snow.

 

pay: 지불하다, (빚 따위를) 갚다, 청산하다

all: 다, 모두

owe: 빚지고 있다

sin: 죄

leave left left: 남기다

crimson: 주홍색, 심홍색

stain: 더럼, 얼룩, 오점, 녹

wash: 씻다

snow: 눈

 

2 Lord, now indeed I find

Thy power, and Thine alone,

Can change the leper’s spots

And melt the heart of stone.

 

Lord: 주, 주인, 주님

alone: 다만, 홀로

change: 변하다, 변하게 하다

leper: 나환자, 문둥이

spot: 점, 얼룩

melt: 녹이다

stone: 돌

 

 

3 For nothing good have I

Whereby Thy grace to claim;

I’ll wash my garments white

In the blood of Calvary’s Lamb.

 

whereby: (그것에 의해) …하는

grace: 은혜

claim: 요구하다, 청구하다, 주장하다

garment: 의복 (특히 긴 웃옷)

blood: 피

lamb: 어린 양

 

4 And when before the throne

I stand in Him complete,

“Jesus died my soul to save,”

My lips shall still repeat.

 

throne: 왕좌, 보좌

stand: 서다

in Him: 그(예수님) 안에

complete: 완전한, 흠잡을 데 없는, 전부의

die: 죽다

soul: 영혼, 생명

save: 구원하다

lip: 입술

still: 여전히

repeat: 반복하다
